In addition, we arrange for and oversee valuable financial planning, money management, tax planning, preparation and filing, insurance needs and various legal services through independent outside sources. At ProStar,
our goal is to effectively coordinate each area of our client's off the
field affairs so he can confidently maintain his highest level of play
on the field. At Pro Star, we never lose sight of the fact that each client
is our top priority.
All Contracts, including playing contracts and marketing and endorsement deals are handled by Paul Sheehy, president and general counsel to ProStar and Howard Shatsky, our senior vice president of contracts.
Paul is an attorney admitted in both Colorado and California and many Federal jurisdictions. He has been negotiating professional sports contracts since 1988. Paul has a broad sports, legal and business background. In addition to his law degree, Paul has earned his MBA degree and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. He also has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business teaching a sports law/contracts class.
Howard is an attorney admitted in the state of Maryland, and has been negotiating professional sports contracts since 1994. He also has served as an adjunct professor at the American University School of Law, where he has taught a sports law/contracts class.
Every agency says they get their clients more money...We do it! Most recently for example, we successfully negotiated the highest contract in the history of the NFL for a punter, a package worth $10 million.

takes an aggressive approach to marketing & endorsements. We have
found many companies which find value in retaining a profesional athlete
to endorse their product, service or establishment. Pro Star, under
the direction of Warren
Schmidt, has secured these supplemental income opportunities
with companies including Nike, Reebok, Oakley sunglasses, Falcone suits,
Prince, CB Sports, Met-Rx, Stromgren Supports, 1Xcel, Powerbar and others.
In addition, we work to network each client with those companies with
whom he may have an interest in working after his playing days are complete.
Financial planning and investment activities
are handled on an "interview and recommendation" process. We
interview select financial planners and brokers and the services offered
by each. Those selected for the interview process must be registered with the NFL Players Association to be given consideration. We then give the client an opinion of the pros and cons of each
depending on the individual client's geographical location. financial
situation and goals. Our objective is to give each client the information
needed to make an informed decision as to who best will serve his individual
needs.
Tax planning, preparation and filing are handled through
through our strategic alliances with top CPA and accounting firms like Pro Sports Tax. Pro Star insures each player is afforded top quality service at a substatial discount.
Coverage such as career ending disability, life, home-owners, renters, and even auto coverages are too often overlooked. Not by us. We obtain the lowest rates and best coverage for our clients from the top insurers, whether directly through the company or through independent agencies. |
